January 2008

Polibak Plastics America has divested all of its converted flexible packaging business to better concentrate on the distribution of its base films. All of the converted items previously stocked and distributed by Polibak has been sold wholly to Bak Flexibles.

This move was taken to allow Polibak to focus more on the sale of master rolls and slit film sales to its growing base of converters and packer/processors. With increased stocks and a more diverse line of plastic films available for conversion, Polibak Plastics will be able to more rapidly serve its customers. As more domestic manufacturing heads towards JIT inventory management to maximize cash flow, Polibak is now poised to answer that call. With turn-around times for most orders measured in a few days versus weeks, Polibak Plastics America hopes this more focused approach will grow its market share in the ever-tightening flexible packaging sector.

May 2007

Polibak Plastics America is pleased to announce the introduction of its newest base film innovation. A proprietary blend of polyethylene, this new film has many of the desirable characteristics of paper with the added imperviousness to liquids found in plastic films. Paper-like poly, as it is being marketed, will dead fold, crinkle, twist, and even tear like paper (in machine direction). Furthermore, with its matte paper-like surface, it can be written on with a plain ball-point pen!

This new film is printable, with moderate COF and low static making it ideal for sheeting. Polibak feels that with these properties and the low cost of production that paper-like poly is the perfect replacement for waxed papers in delis and supermarkets.

March 2007

Polibak Plastics America has added an array of specialty polyethylene base films to it already broad range of OPP and metalized films. Although polyethylene is a highly competitive market, Polibak hopes to gain traction with a number of its specialty PE based films which include:

  • Peelable Lidding Films
  • Burt-Peel for cereal packaging
  • Twistable films to replace PVC
